My name is Jenni Dunning, and I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
EDUCATION:
I have a BA in English and history from Carleton University (2007) and an MAJ from the University of Western Ontario (2008).
MEDIA:
I am currently the Toronto Star‘s Social Media Editor, where I also work some shifts as a Team Editor, assigning stories to city news reporters and editing articles for the paper and web.
From Nov. 2009 to Sept. 2011, I also wrote a bi-weekly column for 20-something readers for the Alliston Herald.
After graduating from Western in 2008, I was a reporter at the London Free Press, and then a part-time writer at CBC Sports from 2009 to 2010.
Just before joining the Star, I was a general assignment reporter and web editor at the Hamilton Spectator from March to Sept. 2010.
I have also freelanced for several online and print publications in the Toronto area.
I’m trained in print, online, radio and TV journalism. I’ve worked as a writer and editor (print and web) for a number of different publications in Ontario.
I have freelanced for the London Free Press, Western News, Western Alumni Gazette, The Gazette, and Trot Magazine. I have worked as the Arts, National and Features editor at The Charlatan.
My twitter account is @jmdthompson.
Why “Nowhere With You“? My favourite musician is Joel Plaskett. And it’s just a darn good song.
PERSONAL:
I’m married to a motorcycle-riding, baseball-loving military man. I love baking, fresh cut flowers, 1950s movies, travelling, watching the Blue Jays play, the beach, family and social history, and lakes. I’m named after Donovan’s song ‘Jennifer Juniper’ and one of my beautiful niece’s middle names is after me.
